Tracklist:

  1. Miss You – Bearight & Lookleft
  2. Gloria feat Sigrid Elliott – Luna City Express
  3. Mantis feat. Louisahhh! (Edu Imbernon Remix) – Los Suruba
  4. Fever feat. Lailah Reich (So Deaf! Remix) – J. Phlip
  5. So Real (Huxley Remix) – Combo
  6. Expressions – Lance DeSardi
  7. The Fidelity – Mic Newman
  8. I Wanna Be – David Glass
  9. The Promise (Fish Go Deep Vocal Remix) – Kerri Chandler
  10. To Who Love (Livo & Roby Remix) – Sehou
  11. Flashmob Thrill (Los Suruba Remix) – Andre Butano & Miguel Lobo

Q: What is this mix all about?

Expressing love: The first couple of tracks all have vocals that sound almost pained from heartbreak: first you have “You forgot I was around” in Bearight & Lookleft’s “Miss You”, then “I should walk away” in “Gloria” by Luna City Express, followed by “Mantis” by Los Suruba, which has a vocal that says “I love it/ it doesn’t work, but I can’t quit.” I also play one of my favourite tracks of all time, Kerri Chandler’s “The Promise,” which sounds so seductive with “you intoxicate my mind.” Love is one of the most universal things- it’s relatable as well as intriguing- and I like to choose tracks that have really passionate and interesting vocals in them. Vocals can really draw the listener in and have the ability to make or break a good track!

Q: What’s your favorite track of the moment?

I’m really digging all the new releases coming from Suruba. I play two in this mix: Mantis, the groovy one with the Visionquest feel near the beginning, and Flashmob Thrill, the really funky one that I leave you wanting more with!

Mr. C to America: “Hijack the EDM Scene Back from Europe!”

From Mr. C to America: “Hijack the EDM Scene Back from Europe!” – Miami Music – Crossfade.

Quality EDM started in the US in the ’80s, and now it’s coming home. And one of the things I really like about America is that the crowds are less forgiving when egomaniac DJs mess up. It really seems to be more about the quality of the music now, which can only bode well for the future. That said, what Americans need to do now is too continue what they’ve been doing with this scene, not become sycophant slags and suck up to the big names with their inflated prices and even more inflated egos, and enjoy watching America hijack the scene back from Europe. Watch this space!
